Are Your Buttons Boring? A Quick Fix for Better Conversions

You’ve got the offer. You’ve got the site. But no one’s clicking your CTA? Let’s talk about your buttons.

The humble button is one of the most important elements on your site. It’s how your clients take action. Book, buy, sign up, schedule… that magical little rectangle is the bridge between browsing and becoming a client.

But if your buttons are snoozy? They’re not doing their job. Here’s the single fastest fix I recommend:

Make Your Buttons Look Like… Buttons

Revolutionary, I know.

Too many Squarespace sites fall into the “ghost button” trap. That’s designer speak for buttons that are:

  • Low-contrast (white on a white-ish background? I’m squinting.)

  • Border-only with no fill

  • Tiny and timid

  • Styled like regular text

Why it’s a problem:
Your buttons blend in. Visitors aren’t sure what’s clickable. So they scroll… and bounce.

The Quick Fix:

Make your primary CTA buttons:

  • Bold (high contrast to your background)

  • Big enough (not tiny little links)

  • Consistent (use the same style across your site)

  • Clear (use action-oriented text like “Book Your Free Call” or “Get the Guide”)

Bonus tip? Use just ONE main call-to-action style across your site to create visual consistency and guide your visitor.

Bottom Line:

Your buttons are not decoration. They are tiny conversion machines. Make them stand out, and you’ll see a bump in clicks—no A/B test required.
